Program Synopsis

The Dallas Housing Authority (DHA) has a simple mission - to provide qualified low income families with safe and affordable housing. DHA receive federal funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to manage their income based Public Housing and Voucher Choice Program. DHA owns and operates 31 properties in their public housing program offering on site case management and support services. Qualified tenants pay 30 percent of their income for rent.

Intake Process

• Have an annual income at the time of admission that does not exceed the HUD income limits
• Pass a criminal background screening
• Provide acceptable documentation of Social Security numbers for all family members
• Cannot owe money to DHA or any other housing authority in connection with any federal housing program
• Meet the applicant selection criteria
• Are not already adequately housed in any public housing authority-owned dwelling units
